Revitalisasi Perpustakaan Desa Bukit Rawi berbasis Participatory Action Research (PAR)

Abstract

This community service program aimed to revitalize the function of the Bukit Rawi Village Library in Kahayan Tengah District, Pulang Pisau Regency, which was selected due to low reading interest and its suboptimal role as a literacy center. The revitalization was implemented through a series of initiatives, including a book donation campaign, the “Baca Ceria” children’s literacy activities, collection reorganization, and the provision of basic facilities. The activities employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, emphasizing active community engagement in every stage—from planning to evaluation—to ensure program relevance and sustainability. The results indicate a significant increase in the library’s reading collection, higher participation of children in reading activities, and the creation of a more conducive learning space. Despite challenges such as limited youth involvement and time constraints, the program demonstrated a positive impact on strengthening the community’s literacy culture. Therefore, continued and sustainable implementation of this program is essential, supported by the village government, schools, and the local community.
