Penerapan Layanan Konseling Kelompok sebagai Upaya Mengurangi Perilaku Merokok Siswa Jurusan Desain Komunikasi Visual (DKV) di SMK Negeri 4 Palangka Raya

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of group counseling services in reducing smoking behavior among Visual Communication Design (DKV) students at SMK Negeri 4 Palangka Raya. Group counseling services are based on group dynamics theory that emphasizes interaction, support between members, and self-awareness development as a means of behavioral change. The novelty of this study lies in the application of group counseling to address smoking behavior in vocational high school students majoring in DKV through a qualitative approach that describes the service process as a whole. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation involving Guidance and Counseling teachers and students who have smoking habits. With the number of students who became informants was 4 people and had the criteria for smoking habits and school guidance and counseling teachers. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that group counseling services were implemented systematically through the preparation, implementation, and termination stages. Indicators of success were shown by increasing student awareness of the dangers of smoking, growing motivation to reduce smoking habits, and developing students' responsibilities and social skills. Although there are still obstacles in the form of peer influence and the perception that smoking is a symbol of maturity, group counseling services have proven to be an effective strategy in supporting student behavioral change.
