people. A marriage is considered valid if the couple has received a marriage blessing and it is legally registered at the State's civil registration office. However, social observations reveal that many congregations prioritize customary law ceremonies over the marriage blessing, which ought to be central to Christian confession. The preference for traditional marriage among Christians in Sungai Puring village highlights a tension between local cultural traditions and the understanding of Christian faith. This study aims to examine this situation from the perspective of reformed theology, which emphasizes biblical authority, God's sovereignty, faith, and the glory of God. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study demonstrates how reformed theological views can offer theological guidance, affirming that marriage is not merely a socio-cultural institution but a sacred covenant before God.The study's findings indicate that the preference for fulfilling customary law stems from strong cultural influences and a lack of theological awareness within the congregation regarding the nature of marriage as a sacred covenant before God. Therefore, there is a clear need for faith education, pre-marital catechism, and pastoral assistance grounded in the word of God.
